Course Duration: Duration of the course is 2 to 5 years.

Course Fee: A candidate has to pay Rs.25000/- as course fee.

Qualification Criteria: Candidate should have completed Bachelor’s degree with specialization in subjects like Human Development Theory and Family Studies Child Development, Human Development and Childhood Studies, Child Development and Family Relationships, Home Science, Psychology, Social Work, Medicine or other allied disciplines, “Allied disciplines” include Anthropology, Sociology, Education, Philosophy, MBBS or equivalent qualification in Ayurveda, Unani, Sidha or Homeopathy Medicines, Nursing etc. from a recognized University.

Or

Bachelor’s degree with a higher degree in any of the above mentioned subjects

Or

Bachelor’s Degree and a Post Graduate Diploma in Guidance and Counselling from a recognized University are eligible to get admission in the University.

Age Criteria: There is no any age restriction. Any qualified person can get admission in particular course.

Doctor of Philosophy in Sociology (PhD in Sociology)

Doctoral Degree:

Delivery Type – Distance

Name of the course: IGNOU –Doctor of Philosophy in Sociology (PhD in Sociology)


Course Duration: Duration of the course is 2 to 5 years.

Course Fee: A candidate has to pay Rs.14000/- as course fee.

Qualification Criteria: A candidate should have completed M. Phil Degree and a Post-Graduate Degree in a concerned discipline with minimum 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ ST/ PH candidates) or its equivalent grade from a university or a recognized institution of higher training;

OR

Masters Degree in a concerned discipline with minimum 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ ST/ PH candidates) or its equivalent grade from a university or a recognized institution of higher learning with minimum 5 years experience of teaching/ industry/ administration/ professional at senior level.

Age Criteria: There is no any age restriction. Any qualified person can get admission in particular course.
