About Course: IGNOU has launched very common and popular programme Bachelor of Arts (BA) in formal and non-formal both schemes. Candidates, who have passed 10+2 examination, are categorized as formal stream students and who haven’t passed such exam is categorized as non-formal stream students. Such students have to pass BPP (Bachelor’s Preparatory Programme) first and then they can appear at the course.

Objective of the course: The main aim of this programme is to provide degree in various courses. The programme contains total 96 credits categorized in three courses i.e. Foundation courses, Elective Courses and Application-Oriented Courses.

When students scored 48 credits, he will be awarded with BA Major Degree, whereas others will be awarded with BA General Degree. It is compulsory for every student to choose at least 8 credits from Application-Oriented Courses group.

Course Duration: Duration of the course is 3 to 6 years.

Course Fee: A candidate has to pay Rs.1700/- as course fee. Course fee may vary from year to year.

Qualification Criteria: Candidates have to pass 10+2 or its equivalent to get admission in the programme Bachelor of Arts (BA). Candidates, who haven’t possessed mentioned qualification, have to pass Bachelor’s Preparatory Programme (BPP) conducted by IGNOU.

Age Criteria: There is no any age restriction. Any qualified person can get admission in particular course.

Doctor of Philosophy in Tourism Studies (PhD in Tourism Studies)

About Course: IGNOU has introduced very first phase of the Doctor of Philosophy in Tourism Studies. Candidates, interested to make career in tourism programme may enroll with this programme. Candidates may get admission on the basis of relevant documents, interview and presentation in specified seminar.

Only those candidates are eligible to get admission in the course that possess the degree in M. Phil or required experience. They are not required to complete the subsequent course work. Candidates, who do not possess M. Phil degree, are required to complete the course work of 32 credits.

Course Duration: Duration of the course is 2 to 5 years.

Course Fee: A candidate has to pay Rs.7000/- per annum. Candidates, who do not possess M. Phil degree, are eligible for course work of 32 credits. They have to pay Rs.7000/- extra as course fee.

Qualification Criteria: Admission will be made after considering obtained degree.
Candidates possessing Masters Degree in Tourism or Hospitality with M. Phil or 5 years relevant teaching/ professional experience will fall under Category ‘A’.

Candidates with Masters Degree in any Discipline will fall under Category ‘B’.
